The goal of the project is to \u201c<em>raise people\u2019s awareness, giving consumers a chance to play an active part in reducing the environmental impact of the fashion industry<\/em>\u201d, Francesca Tonelli, Chief executive of La Fraternit\u00e0 explains.<\/p>\n<p>Consistent with IGD\u2019s social and environmental commitment, the company became a partner of the project, launching a circular economy project which is sponsored by the Municipality of Bologna and the region of Emilia Romagna, together with AND Circular: on 18 October 2021<strong> three smart bins<\/strong> were installed at three IGD shopping centers (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/centro-borgo\/\">Centro Borgo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/centro-lame\/\">Centro Lame<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/centronova\/\">CentroNova<\/a>) <strong>where people can drop off the clothing they don\u2019t wear anymore<\/strong>.\u00a0 The garments are then collected by the social cooperative \u201cLa Fraternit\u00e0\u201d, selected and sorted and, if the items can\u2019t be reused, they are reworked by the inmates of Bologna\u2019s <em>Casa Circondariale<\/em> \u00a0or sold by the cooperative directly.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the smart bins, as part of the project the first <strong>AND Store<\/strong>, an innovative concept which brings different social realities together, was opened. \u00a0The store, which was well received from the beginning with good sales, employs four people, including one at risk, and is the first store of this sort in an IGD shopping center.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We thought it was important to provide tangible support to a business idea which combines sustainability, quality and community, Daniele Cabuli, IGD Siiq\u2019s Chief Operating Officer, stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Biosafety Trust Certification<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37654 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/logo_DEF_bio-safety-trust-certification_ridotto2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"155\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/logo_DEF_bio-safety-trust-certification_ridotto2-1.png 155w, https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/logo_DEF_bio-safety-trust-certification_ridotto2-1-31x40.png 31w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 155px) 100vw, 155px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>IGD obtained \u201c<strong>Biosafety Trust Certification<\/strong>\u201d for its headquarters in Bologna and 7 Shopping Centers (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/centro-sarca\/\">Centrosarca<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/puntadiferro\/\">Puntadiferro<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/katane\/\">Katan\u00e8<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/cone\/\">Con\u00e8<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/centro-esp\/\">ESP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/tiburtino-shopping-center\/\">Tiburtino<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/immobile\/le-porte-di-napoli\/\">Le Porte di Napoli<\/a>) which validates the work done to foster health and safety, as well as prevent contagion from biological agents, in both the shopping centers and at IGD\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The certification was issued by RINA, \u00a0the accrediting body which developed the first framework for the certification of management models used to prevent and minimize the spread of infections in people caused by biological agents. This prestigious award is given to the real estate companies that comply the most with EPRA\u2019s Sustainability Best Practice Recommendations (sBPR) for sustainability reports. The EPRA Sustainability Awards 2021 were awarded after examining the corporate sustainability reports of 166 European real estate companies, members of EPRA, in order to\u00a0 verify the level of compliance with\u00a0 EPRA\u2019s Best Practices Recommendations relative to consistency and transparency in the information provided.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For more information you can read the press release at the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gruppoigd.it\/en\/epra-gold-awards-assigned-to-igd-also-for-the-2020-financial-statements\/\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IGD was also ranked among the <strong>Top 40 \u201cgreenest\u201d Italian listed companies in 2021 by Refinitiv<\/strong>, a financial data and infrastructure provider.\u00a0 Refinitiv developed a ranking of Italian listed companies with the smallest carbon footprint which was published in the newspaper MF-Milano Finanza in August 2021.
