The restyling project of the Casilino Shopping Center in Rome, a historic center of IGD’s portfolio, opened in 2002, with a total GLA of about 15,000 square meters, was developed by FM Ingegneria in prtnership with the Architect Giulio Paladini with the aim to make the center increasingly attractive for visitors, creating a lively, bright and pleasant environment and has been divided into two phases.
The first phase of the works, which ended in October 2019, involved the architectural restyling on the ground floor, where the shopping mall is located, and the restyling of the facades and exteriors. The architectural project, made with sustainable choices such as lighting with LED technology, was inspired by the positioning of the Center, which overlooks Via Casilina, an important consular road of ancient Rome, which intersects with other historical streets. This intersection of Roman roads has been stylized with straight lines that bend and intersect and are found inside and outside the entire Shopping Center, from the flooring to the ceiling, cross the food court where they concentrate to form branches. of two large trees. The theme of the streets of ancient Rome, with the pavement made of stone slabs (basolati) is also taken up in the external facades, as well as inside the mall. At the same time, we worked on a new and increasingly attractive variety of commercial offer, creating an attractive merchandising mix that includes both high-level local operators and national tenants and the expansion of the restaurant offer, in a specially dedicated and equipped food court and of the personal services offer.
The second phase of the works, to be completed by the first half of 2022, provides for the reduction of the hypermarket surface with the consequent creation of new commercial units inside the mall and the realization of the architectural restyling works on the First Floor. In this case, the reduction of the hypermarket will also take place with a retreat of the checkout front, thus allowing the creation of a new mall with the placement of a row of new fully glassed shops on the opposite side. In addition, Unicoop Tirreno will also leave the entire area currently dedicated to its restaurant available for the placement of a new specialized operator.
